Best skin care tips from Paragon Salon!

Carefree, effortless, flawless: These are the words we’d like to use to when it comes to describing our summer beauty routine. In real life, it’s more like sweaty, flat and flustered. As the weather heats up, your beauty routine might need a few tweaks to continue working for you. Hot temperatures and higher humidity, as well as fun summer activities, can affect your skin, hair, and body. Check out the best skin care tips for the summer.

1. Cool Down

Most of us think hot water = cleaner skin. We are using the hottest water possible to wash the face. Try using lukewarm water, along with a very simple routine, and you will see a big change in your skin texture.

2. Double Cleanse

The sweat, salt, and sunscreen that accumulate on your skin in the summer can wreak havoc on your complexion. You may need to up your cleansing game in order to keep pores clean. If you haven't tried double cleansing yet, now's a great time to start. In the evening only, cleanse first with an oil-based cleanser, and then with a gentle gel or foam cleanser. The oil cleanser will get the gunk out of your pores, and the second cleanser will remove any remaining oil or grime, making your face a fresh canvas for moisturizing.

3. Balance Out Your Skin

Although we all have our favorite toners, sometimes we want to give our skin a break and turn to a more natural remedy. For a quick toner, mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water and spritz on your face for the same clean effect. To control oil in the middle of the day without disturbing your makeup, try spraying your face with a facial mist, and then blotting gently with oil blotting paper.

4. Get Rid of Pimples

Breakouts always seem to happen right before a big event. If you're suffering from under-the-skin pimples, try to bring them to a head with warm compresses and tea bags. After you pop the pimple, boil some water, soak a tea bag, and gently press the tea bag on the area for as long as you can.

5. Soothe Sunburns

We've all suffered a sunburn or two for the price of a tan. Luckily, here is one of the best skin care tips - rubbing plain yogurt on your skin for 10 minutes will help restore your skin's natural barrier. Don't forget to use Aloe Vera in addition to this remedy.

6. Switch to a Gel Moisturizer

Warmer temperatures day and night mean that you might not need a heavy moisturizer during the summer. If your usual cream is making your skin feel greasy or weighed down, try switching to a lightweight gel moisturizer. Don't skip the moisturizer entirely, though — that's a surefire way to dehydrate your skin.

7. Never rub your eyes

The skin on your face is extremely delicate, especially under your eyes. Use a very light touch on your face at all times. If your eyes itch, apply a cold compress or washcloth to the area, or try a cotton pad moistened with toner or witch hazel.

8. Stop wiping

Most wipes have irritating ingredients in them, and, in general, they don’t remove makeup unless you scrub at your face much harder than you should. It’s much better to use a cleansing oil or a cleansing balm to remove your makeup, and then cleanse again with a gentle cleanser.

9. Protect Yourself From the Sun

You know you should be wearing sunscreen daily during the summer, especially since the sun's rays account for 80% of wrinkles and visible aging. But did you know that you should be reapplying every two hours? The active ingredients in sunscreens break down with sun exposure, or can get rubbed or sweated off. Also, with the UV index being so much higher in the summer, wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30.
